Course Description
This seminar presents the assessment and treatment of adult hemiplegia based on the NDT (Bobath) Approach. Content includes: Background to Neurodevelopmental (Bobath) Treatment; Overview of Neurological Concepts; Developmental Concepts; Basic Components of Movement; Principles of Treatment; Considerations in the Management of Adult Hemiplegia; Analyzing Patient Problems; Analyzing Trunk Movements; Subjective and Objective Assessment; Handling Skill Leading to Better Function.
Learning Outcomes
1. Be able to list the basic concepts of the NDT (Bobath) Approach to the treatment of adult hemiplegia.
2. Be able to list the normal movement components of sitting and standing.
3. Identify ways to analyze and problem-solve patient movements.
4. Observe ways to facilitate dynamic sitting & standing.
5. Observe treatment demonstration
6. Identify the movement components of positioning and mobility in bed and observe facilitation of positioning and mobility in bed.
