Course Description
This course focuses on the critical thinking skills that therapists must use to help children achieve functional goals which lead to academic success for children with neuromotor and sensory processing challenges. Functional routines essential to academic success will be identified. The essential elements for performance for each routine will be identifieTtasks will be broken down into essential components, and strategies to produce measurable changes in children will be presented. Case studies,will be presented that use the sensory, motor, and cognitive foundations of the NeuroDevelopmental, Sensory Integrative and Motor Learning theoretical frameworks to build school based intervention.
Learning Outcomes
1. Describe the current theoretical framework that drives NDT clinical treatment for children.
2. Identify the essential sensory, motor and cognitive elements of a functional task
3. Identify goals and a road map for intervention and achievement for a broad spectrum of children.
4. Identify strengths as well as barriers to performance that would dlimish skill attainment.
5. Describe strategyiesoptions for intervention including handling, manipulating the environment, altering sensation, choosing equipment, and developing practice.

Level I Introductory/no prerequisites required.
