This program provides a comprehensive discussion of the nutritional requirements for children with special needs, including prematurity and a range of disabilities that challenge the child's growth, development and nutritional status. Assessing nutritional needs in the various groups of children at risk, determining appropriate nutrition intervention, and criteria for tube feeding are discussed. Various infant formulas are analyzed with empnasis on fortifying foods for increasing calories and nutrients. Interventions for transitioning off tube feeding are presented with growth chart analysis. Case examples are presented.
